Our Church
Calvary Baptist Church began as Bible study in 1939. As believers continued to study the Word of God together, they worked to form a local church. Since then, Calvary Baptist has been committed to the study and preaching of Word of God. We gather together to worship Jesus Christ, and we go to serve others throughout the week. Our mission is to minister to those in in Greene and the surrounding area, sharing the gospel with them. As a church, we work to follow Jesus Christ together through the trials and joys of life.
Our Pastor
Ben Hartwig has been serving at Calvary Baptist since October 2009. He grew up in the mountains of upstate New York. He trusted in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age, after hearing the gospel from his parents. He came to Iowa to attend Faith Baptist Bible College and met his wife Stacy there. They now have five children: Micah, Aaron, Grace, Isaac, and Noah. They enjoy ministering and living in Greene, which they have made their home. Pastor Ben enjoys reading, roasting coffee, playing games, and traveling.
